Backstage Pass: Summer Camp
If anyone ever reincarnates the Brat Pack, Summer Camp would be a shoe-in for the soundtrack. The British duo are retro to the core, taking their cues from 1980’s films and pop culture; their debut, Welcome to Condale, is even set in a suburb à la Sixteen Candles (…or Heathers). Elizabeth and Jeremy played a gig at Givenchy, and documented the journey—Hipstamatic-style! Their play-by-play is below.
The duo are heading to the US next week; check their dates in NY, LA, and Washington DC here.

Last weekend we went to Evian (as in the fancy water) in France to play a private show for a fashion label. It was really amazing. I should state that this is not an ordinary trip for us, I don’t want you guys to think we’re Braggy McBragasons who take this kind of thing in our stride. It was INSANIA.
Anyway, we flew on Swiss Air. Which is now our favourite airline in the world. Although they did tell Jeremy off for taking this picture.

We had to get up at 5am in order to be at the show in time. This is what Jeremy looks like at 5am. But it was OK because they gave us chocolate croissants and bars of chocolate on the plane. What did I say? Best airline.
After some of that snoozing where your head just rolls around, and your mouth is wide open, and you wake up with a really sore neck, we arrived. A very nice man called Ken was there to meet us in his very nice car.

That isn’t Ken, that’s Elizabeth. And a horse.
After an hour we arrived at the beautiful hotel and got stuck into the delicious buffet. However we were distracted from our meal slightly by the ornate ceiling over our heads.

We all had to have our picture taken with it.

We went downstairs to soundcheck, and wandered out onto the veranda. Jeremy was forced into lots of dramatic shots that, I felt, really capture the beautiful essence of Evian.

After sound-check we went upstairs to the salon where a sumptuous tea was being laid out. I wish I could reach into the picture and have one of those chocolate brownie cake triangle things again. They were so good.

We all had a wash (separately) and then got dressed up for the show. Here are some photos of us in our best garb, pouting.

Then it was time for the show, which went great, thanks for asking. And then another wonderful meal, then bed. Oh actually, the boys went night swimming but sadly there are no photos of that.
THANKS GUYS!
