Another month, another Hipst-a-Day!
We have a guest contributor this time around, and he’s an expert when it comes to photo challenges: Samuel Gasc, creator of the popular @HipstaChallenge. Check out two weeks of his nifty themes, May 8 through 14th and 22nd through 28th.
What does he love about running HipstaChallenge? The same thing we love here at Synthetic: our HipstaFam!
Taking to Twitter, I launched HipstaChallenge on June 6 of 2011 with the simple description of “A daily photo assignment for Hipstamatic users.” Within a few weeks, there was a steady stream of constant participation, and it has changed the way I see the world. Every day I see a simple word or phrase interpreted and re-interpreted in ways I never would have thought of myself and with imagery that is unique to any number of locations around the world. Contributions come in regularly from all across the United States, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and Central and South America, along with many other locales.
The themes are sometimes simple and at times a bit more on the challenging side, but without fail the community has always stepped up and delivered impressive results over a large range of topics. I have met many talented photographers through HipstaChallenge as well as seen many amazing photographs, and I owe a great big thanks to the team at Synthetic for making a photography app that is truly unique. Sure, it’s inspired by the magic of analog photography, but it has without a doubt breathed new life into the possibilities of iPhone-based photography in a fresh and exciting way! And it is truly an honor to present a wonderful array of themes for your shooting pleasure for the month of May!
